When you are trying to find a painting contractor it’s important to keep a few things in mind. In today’s economy everyone is looking for services and products at the cheapest price possible, but sometimes you need to balance that attitude with value. When you receive your three painting estimates, be sure to compare apples to apples, cheaper is not always better! Make sure the specs match up, for example, if you request a quote to have the out side of your house painted, it’s important that the estimate offers as much detail as possible such as, will the surface be primed? how will the surface be prepped? How many finish coats of stain or paint? Will top quality products be used?

Aside from these questions, probably more importantly is; How long has the painting contractor been in business? Does he have good references? You can easily get a cheap price, but it doesn’t matter how expensive and high quality the paint is if the person putting it on is not experienced and careful! You need someone that believes in giving tremendous value! Nothing is worse then taking the time to find a painting contractor, paying him your hard earned money and he turns around and does a poor quality job! You are better off paying more for a high quality properly insured painting contractor with a lot of experience! A lot of times, a great painting contractor might be more expensive because he has high quality painters working for him and are paid accordingly, this is good!

So, be open minded when you are shopping around for a high quality painting contractor to paint your home, cheaper is not always better! After you receive your estimates, call the contractors back and ask them to explain why they are higher and what you are getting for that increase, a lot of times, it makes sense!
